Oregonian SPL (aka Sam Pool)'s musical career began in his early teens with playing the drums - and from then on he became forever addicted to making music. His attempts to find a band to play in were unsuccessful, but driven by a growing hunger for electronic music, he began downloading simple midi programs and creating beats and melodies on the computer in his parents' room. Inspired by musicians such as Photek and Aphex Twin, he came up with the idea of ​​composing all the pieces of music that sounded in his head into a single whole.

At the age of 15, SPL attended his first rave – and from that moment on, he was forever captivated by electronic music. He began learning to DJ at home in his bedroom, and after 6 months he was regularly playing his sets on the local rave scene, mixing everything from techno to drum & bass. But he soon realized that the only music that was truly interesting to him was drum & bass.

A little later, he started writing music at home. And with the development of music software technologies, he realized that he could already do everything he needed to develop his skills. A few years later, during which he, without stopping to improve in writing music, equipped a studio at his home, his music was noticed on a global scale. And after some time of hard work in finding his own sound, in 2006 Tech Itch Recordings (Technical Itch label) released his single. Soon after, he caught the attention of Dylan and was invited to the Freak / Anger family, and in the same year he released another release on the Freak Recordings label. Since then, SPL has continued to refine and develop its sound, striving to recreate its own atmosphere in the drum & bass world.

In 2005, he had already worked with such musicians as Limewax and Tech Itch, and entered the audio engineering college in Amsterdam.

From 2006 to 2008, the most famous and significant SPL releases for the drum & bass scene were released, such as We Have Life EP together with LImewax, The Death EP, Denied / Nihil. He also opens his own label, Lost Soul Recordings, which produces a lot of releases that have become classics of drum & bass of that time. The label will close in 2011, as a result of the crisis in the development of the genre and the lack of quality works. In 2009, his solo album “SPL” was released, which can be said to have completed his journey in drum & bass music. Since back in 2008, SPL began writing dubstep, opening his second label Hollow Point Recordings, which released releases until 2013. At the moment, SPL has not had any new tracks or releases for several years.
