Quality MP3 320 kbps
Label Hospital Records
Nr# NHS158CD
Having showcased regional and international scenes from Cambridge to Tokyo via Budapest, Hospital's 'Future Sound Of' series takes on a whole new dimension; for the first time we take on the giant superpower that is Russia. Drum+bass has been thriving in mother Russia for a while now, with UK and international DJs bringing back reports of some mindblowing parties and clubnights.
With music flooding into the Hospital office from St Petersburg, Moscow and even further afield a 'Future Sound of' soon started becoming an exciting inevitability. 'The Future Sound Of Russia' is as diverse as you'd expect from the largest country in the world. The stylistic spectrum is broad - from the soulful sounds of Electrosoul System (featuring the voice behind Freak Power – Ashley Slater no less), to the experimental ambience of Bop and Dissident, via the awesome dancefloor minimalism of new Hospital signing Subwave - these producers are some of the most talked about in the scene.

Label Sentry
Nr# SEN017
Review: The beautiful thing about the ever-present Sentry catalogue is just how versatile it can remain, despite staying true to its dubstep roots. This time around, label-owner Youngsta welcomes the fabulous production arsenal of Substance inside for two system sizzlers, kicking off with 'Dreamstate'. As you can imagine, this is a floaty affair, jam-packed with organic drum textures and eastern-inspired melodic twists, all bolstered up by some ridiculously clean sub-work below. On the flip, 'Bitter End' focuses on some more minimal influences, with eerie melodic expressions and super-powerful bass manipulation playing the lead roles. Sentry have done it again!

Nr# RMLS001
Review: Next up with Romulus, we see the enigmatic sounds of Sh?m land once again, this time for a potent four track display of dubstep-influenced brilliance. We begin with the jazzy instrumentation and future-bass-like synth action of 'Dispirited', which following on from a two minute introduction, descends into twisted bass madness. The pace then quickens dramatically on 'SKRWFACE' which sees BLNT get involved for some hard hitting synth design and crunchy drum punches, followed by the stunning percussive stutters and floaty pad textures of 'Late Nights, Early Mornings', creating a whirlpool of purple soundscapes. Finally, 'Voyager' draws all of Sh?m's influences into one central bundle with a groovy final piece, alternating between grizzly synth slaps and harmonious chiming pulses. What a project this is!
