Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2009, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, through Skankandbass Introducing we release a series of free download singles which aims to spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

Our first release of 2021 comes to us by way of Perth, Australia and surging talent Manikin. Having made a name for himself with a series of accomplished releases on Terra Firma, Delta9, Context and Lost, coupled with being an established DJ in the Australian drum & bass scene; he looks to continue on his upward trajectory. He now makes his Skankandbass Introducing debut in spectacular fashion with "Off Time / Reflection".

Villem's new Murkt imprint has taken a short break to get its affairs in order and returns this new year with its first VA EP, a four-track exemplification of the blends of sounds which make it such a potent new force in the scene. Villem features himself alongside Hadley, Riya and Collette Warren on 'Invisible', a silky vocal roller that blends liquid vibes with techier synth spasms to great effect. Fields comes correct on the minimal bulges of 'Jubby', whilst 'Crystal Glow' by Strafe and Chris Munky is stepping soul of the highest calibre, and 'Prisma' ends things on a minimal, rolling tip. Beatport exclusive: DSP makes a welcome return to Symmetry Recordings with his 'Fake Worlds EP'. Leading on from the superb 'Destination EP' in 2019, this is DSP's third release on the label and further entrenches his status within the Symmetry roster. With cutting edge production, DSP fuses a myriad of elements together to great effect; contrasting nostalgic, soulful vocals and deft instrumentalism with warm jungly reeces and tech funk throwbacks.
