Дилан и Зак познакомились в 2004 году в Торонто и сразу обнаружили взаимную любовь к музыке и стали вместе её писать под именем Mass Productions. В 2007 году, будучи Mass Productions, дуэт выпустил первый официальный релиз, который не принёс им особой известности. В 2009 году они переименовываются в Zeds Dead, позаимствовав название из фильма Криминальное Чтиво Квентина Тарантино, фразу "Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead" произносит персонаж Брюса Уиллиса. Параллельно дуэт делал свои вечеринки в Торонто и привозил к себе известных артистов, среди которых Skrillex, Nero, Borgore и другие. В конце 2010-го Zeds Dead стали одними из первых хитмейкеров дабстепа новой волны, их прославил ремикс на Blue Foundation, имеющий на данный момент практически 150 миллионов прослушиваний на YouTube.
