This final release of the year sees them out in style as the rapidly rising sounds of Cartridge, also nominated in the 'Best Breakthrough Producer' lands with three tracks of explicit heat. The title track 'Cashmere' combines impactful drums with eastern influenced woodwind melodies to cook up a storm, followed by haunted plucks and grizzly sub textures of 'Antimatter' and mystic harmonies of 'Sacred Scrollz' to round out the year in style.

We always get excited to see a brand new JFO release hit the shelves, so when we saw he had teamed up with the ever-ready Macabre Unit team for a two track special, we were absolutely over the moon. This one is a perfect showcase of what JFO is all about, as 'Bodom' kicks us off in style, channeling incredibly clean bass synthesizer processing, spacey pads and punchy drums to provide us with an absolute heater. On the B-side we welcome 'Virus', dripping in a more classic deep dubstep flavour as growling synthesizer rolls run riot amidst delicate percussive leads and smooth atmospheric textures. Another job well done for both Macabre Unit and JFO!

Uprise Audio are a label we can always rely on to bring us some serious dubstep flavour, a task in which they have held their own for the entire year. This latest two track pairing from 11th Hour is a perfect example of the sound the label are proud to represent, with 'Hyperspace' kicking us off with some stunning sub work and drum design as the A-side. On the flip to this we are given 'Bravo Zulu', a more marching style of composition, built to cause somewhat of a ruckus in the dance with it's hard hitting sub line and sharp snare delays. Lovely stuff!

Deep Medi Musik really do have an untouchable knack for finding absolute gems, all holding a strong, front facing system influence, with this latest remix project from Dubkasm, Rider Shafique and Egoless being the perfect example. We find ourselves in the midst of a field of tasty sub designs and eerie compositional designs. Egoless reworks the Dubkasm sound into a slower, more stuttered creation, allowing Rider Shafique's impactful poetry ring out loud and true. What a way to finish up the year!

Soul Defiance is landing on Innovate Audio here with an innovative (unsurprising, right?) EP, one that's nicely in line with the rest of the musical goodness that flows through the gates of Innovate. It's the title tune that's caught our eye, with a glitchy, almost 8-bit intro that blends perfectly into a soulful vocal sample, the serenity of which is belied by the furious rapidity of the drop. Chopped up, punchy drums blend into each other and the bassline comes along for the ride - excellent stuff and the rest of the EP is equally top notch.
