Review: The Wisdom Teeth A&R squad are always keen to bring together the most forward thinking sounds, with this new four tracker from Sputnik One being a homage to that ideal. We begin with the acidic flutters and delicate drum processing of 'Microbead' which pushes forward with some siren-like synth pulses and a generally eerie vibe, before the percussive perfection of 'Love From Above' gives us an emotive and completely unique harmonic design. From here we then stray into the realms of footwork as the high energy drum tickles and subtle vocal slices of 'Michael Cera' give us a whole new direction, before rounding off tidyly on the again percussion-lead melodies of 'Powder', putting the finishing touches on a top quality body of work.

Review: As always with the Dank N Dirty Dubz team, we are absolutely thrilled to see them unveiling new music, with this collection from Soul Bass Project ticking all the boxes for dubstep fans worldwide. We begin our journey through this one with a look at 'Crimson', an industrious system buster, jam-packed with sub-heavy goodness and potent percussive displays, with the swirling melodic jives and chord arpeggio combinations of 'Beach Trip' following closely behind. From here, the melodies and rhythms become ever more impactful as 'Viva Cuba' with combined groovy piano lines, enthralling guitar plucks with lively drum displays for a groovy shakedown, making way for a wicked finale. In our eyes, this latest 'Afrotek' drop on Hyperdub is a perfect example as to why he is held in such high esteem, kicking off with the euphoric yet apocalyptic harmonies of 'Flex' which sees :3LON explore a combination of amapiano & afrobeat flavours with some truly wicked results. Next we have another dancefloor ready roller as 'Bless The Earth' sees Mez, Scottie D & DJ Polo get involved on a super groovy, futuristic funky twist up, followed by the stripped back, much more ama-sounding arrangements of 'Sleeper'. To round off, Mxshi Mo gets involved for a potent display on the title track 'Afrotek', which explores industrial atmospheric textures and grizzly subs below for a killer finale.
