Review: Following a run of label-busting releases from the likes of Xantrax, Data Room and Squallfront, the Ecke label out of Berlin continue to reinvent their wholly undeniable sound that comes from somewhere between bass, dub, jungle, house and drum and bass. This particular compilation pools together a unique collection of artists that sees peeps like FoxMind throw down a flurry of side-widing percussion and bass next to Lawrence Lee's hi-tech club track, "Genetically Enhanced". For something a little more tropical, chilled out and streamlined don't sleep on Inner Zone's synth house session "Wave Trip" next to the turned-out trance elements in DJ Agency's "Excessive Rider". For the experimental bass heads there's DJ Draai's "Full Swing (Lylat Dub)" and Barking's ghoulish "Soft Delete" next to some slo-mo warehouse acid by Hugo Massien and some dope outsider house by Peter Fonda, "Don't Slip".

Review: Following two EPs with Sofa Sound, enigmatic producer Thematic now finds himself firmly couched in the Bristol label with a third standout EP. Deep seated sounds as always, Thematic delivers Lurker, featuring the one collaborative cut with Sofa Sound mainstay DLR. "Repeating Cycles Of Funk" turns in a deeply reflective, minimal and stripped back groove that's full of gnarly distortion and subtle atmospherics. Sparse, floating and trippy rhythms define the title track "Lurker", with "Rail Gub" fusing sweet post dubstep strings with tighter beats and more of that distorted wobble, while "Lost In The Hush" gets haunted in a true drum and bass sound. Couch crasher!
